Endure
Word of Encouragement - Endure
Endure and Resolve. These two words with weight have been on my mind.
I asked the Lord what He wanted to say about these words. I will share endure first:
Romans 5:3–5 (NLT) - We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
James 1:2–4 (NLT) - Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
2 Peter 1:3–11 (NLT) - By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
There are more scriptures, but it’s clear. We need the development that comes to our spirit-man from enduring all types of trials and tribulation. In today’s world, anything that comes against our preferences or any storms that arise causes us to “fall off the path”. Instead of throwing ourselves a pity party or falling into deep depression, we must turn to the Great Shepherd. He’s the only one who can bind us when we are broken and provide us the strength we need to endure. Are we taking the time to learn from Him, in the trial, or are we looking for the exit as fast as possible?
I pray that you receive this encouragement in whatever you’re going through that is trying to get you to quit. Even if you’re the only one standing your ground (you’re not) - keep standing(Eph 6:10-18). Don’t quit, it’s not over, He’s not done with you!!
When you’re ready to quit - endure.
When you feel that your situation or circumstances just won’t change no matter what - endure.
When you believe that there’s no hope, remember that Jesus is our Living Hope and endure.
He endured persecution and death on the cross for us. We can endure the momentary suffering that we experience in this life to bring Him glory. Strengthen and encourage one another. Don’t excel at calling out faults, but love like Jesus.
Until all have heard, continue to endure.
